In 1946 William Perry enlisted in the US Army and was sent to Japan. There he lived the grunt’s life of collaborative survival and saw first-hand, the horrors of nuclear war. Both experiences shaped his career as an entrepreneur and Secretary of Defense, building better homes for non-commissioned officers and helping disarm the weapons of the cold war. The latter feat was achieved through co-operation with Russia…amost inconceivable, he admits unhappily, today. |
