Real American courts are ruled, under the Constitutional separation of powers, by the Judicial branch.  On the other hand the quasi-judicial hearings for migrants in ICE custody and their Immigration Judges are ruled by the Executive Branch, giving extraordinary powers to the Attorney general and the President.  They produce a lot of deportations, but justice?  Maybe not.  Madeleine Schwartz reported on cases heard in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for the NY Review of Books.
