Today on HERE AND THERE, investigators for the Center for Public Integrity have rated how the 50 States do on that criterion…integrity.  What they found is pretty depressing.  For example, New Mexico got a D—and still beat 16 other states.  Gwyneth Doland did the investigation of New Mexico and details its un-pretty picture.

Today on HERE AND THERE:  Azerbaijan and New Mexico…other than the fact that both the Caspian Sea country and the Southwestern state are heavily into the oil and gas business, you would have thought they had much in common.  So why has the government in Baku spent so much time and money courting the politicians of Santa Fe?  The Albuquerque Journal’s Dan Boyd has some answers.

Today on HERE AND THERE:  When last we heard from Michelle Dunne, the director of the Middle East program, at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, she’d just been escorted out of Egypt by security agents of the el-Sisi dictatorship.  In the 10 months since then, a lot has happened in the Mideast, not much of it good, but Michele will sort it out for us, and try to find a way forward.

Today on HERE AND THERE:  With the Obama Administration’s plan to arm and train moderate militias in Syria now abandoned after it failed at every level, many are asking, what should Washington do next?  One proposed answer: a no-fly zone to create a safe area for Syrian civilians.  Sounds good, sounds easy, but Karl Mueller of the RAND corporation will us why it won’t happen and wouldn’t work if it did.
